Saturday 15th October
PER ORA LABORA
Talk about Cantiere delle Arti managed by Piergiorgio Giacchè
Biblioteca Delfini, Modena, 11.00 a.m.

The actor’s work is an unending training on himself, as an instrument but also as a result. An instrument at the work’s disposal but also – if he’s able to – the result to become a work on his own. After all, which is the highest finishing line of theatre, but for producing actors?
The actor condition, more than the others arts and entertainment professions, forces him to a constantly personal research work that goes together with a perpetual professional research of work.
Entrance to the talk is free.
Three are the appointments with the publishing area, rare and significant occasions to deepen the contemporary scenic reality.
Marco De Marinis, who will be exceptionally assisted by Pippo Delbono, opens on Sunday 16 at 12 and he introduces his new book Il teatro dell’altro.Interculturalismo e transculturalismo nella scena contemporanea, published by La Casa Usher. In the book the issues of identity and otherness are considered as they were pointed out to the general attention by the protagonists of the two phases of the theatrical reform of the XX century and as they put today themselves in the most progressive sectors of the scene.
The second appointment (Wednesday 19, at 17.30) it’s with Piersandra Di Matteo, who introduces the upcoming book Eccezione alla lettera. La scena di Richard Maxwell/New York City Players published by Editoria & Spettacolo. A careful and critic reading of the book traces the steps of Richard Maxwell and the New York City Players’ - at VIE with Vision Disturbance - artistic history, which is marked by a special tendency to overexpose and fuel the paradigms of the stage play.
Lastly Luca Del Pia, Lucia Amara, Adele Cacciagrano, Piersandra Di Matteo e Tihana Maravic, introduce OVERGROUND - Visioni dalla scena performativa italiana (Saturday 22 at 12.00). The book, published by Boiler, collects the theoretic thinking and Luca Del Pia’s images, which are displayed at the homonymous exhibition at ex Ospedale S. Agostino. All the meetings will take place at Biblioteca Delfini in Modena.

Marco de Marinis presents his new literary work entitled Il Teatro dell'altro - Interculturalismo e transculturalismo nella scena contemporanea. This one is a good chance to have a deeper look on scene reality. The book is dedicated to Pippo Delbono. This work is focused on identity and diversity analysed by contemporary theatrical masters. There are three different theoretical experiences and three guidelines: Artaud's one with his trip in Mexico (theatrical journey mixed with anthropology); Eugenio Barba and ISTA(International School of Theatre Anthropology)'s one, where anthropology become a new enquiry field and an excellent perspective on research and analysis; last but not least, Jerzy Grotowski's guideline, whose research works on the theatre as necessary tool in order to explore shapes and dimensions of diversity.

Overground is a plural work that put in contrast three action of different nature: photography, performance and theoretic thinking. Each discipline it’s called to give his contribution, starting from his own language but also allowing possibilities of shifting, departures and overlapping. Born in 2009 from the collaboration between four scholars of contemporary theatre and performing arts – Lucia Amara, Adele Cacciagrano, Piersandra Di Matteo e Tihana Maravic – and the photographer Luca Del Pia, Overground hasstarted the homonymous editorial project (Boiler Edizioni) that has included, with the passing of time, ten performers – individual artists or groups – with the aim to investigate together the notion of the performance from different points of view.
